What's In My Minimal Makeup Bag!?
Makeup is something I have a love hate relationship with. Some days I am all about it, feeling almost that if I do not apply any I may scare the world. Other days I can leave the house with nothing feeling natural with a glow. It literally depends on the day, but what I can say is that it pays to have the essentials no matter how I am feeling. I found that paying attention to my personal "problem areas" was the way to go when finding the pieces to fill my minimal makeup bag.
I purged everything. Over the years I have acquired quite a bit of makeup. From the monthly beauty boxes to freebies given throughout the years I was up to my ears. So much that it made me seem like a makeup hoarder. I never used any of it, and constantly gave things away; I was just never really comfortable throwing it away. However this is something I had to get comfortable with during my minimal journey. The first step was to get rid of it all, except my favorites of course. My favorites were used to create the core group of items. With that said, I carried over two swatches of eye shadow from Makeup Forever, and a concealer from Sephora.
Leaving me with almost nothing. I then headed straight to Sephora Prudential to fill in the blanks. They helped me find a bronzer, a better concealer, a new kabuki brush, and a translucent powder. With the points accumulated by my purchase that day (and many others) I was able to grab a few samples as well, that may turn into permanent minimal makeup assets. I spent about $50 and left with things that would last me a long while.
For me, bright under eyes, a fierce bronze, and lashes make the look. My skin stands pretty well on its own and stays healthiest when I apply the least product possible to it. I do not use any type of foundation. I simply aid to my under eyes, bronze, eye shadow (sometimes), lash always, and top off my look with an even layer of translucent powder to mattify. Simple.
