Black Vision, Black Voices: Creating Space for Us, By Us

@CAPTUREDWITHFAITH

This past Black History Month, I had the absolute honor of co-hosting Black Vision, Black Voices alongside my incredible girl gang.

This event, now in its second year, was created to uplift and celebrate Black creators here in Boston - reminding us all that our voices matter, our work is valuable, and we deserve to be seen and heard.

There are five of us behind the scenes - each of us carving out our own path in the content creation space. Some of us are full-time creators, making a living through this work, and some of us are still balancing creating with the day-to-day realities of 9-5 life. But no matter where we are on the journey, one thing is constant: we show up. This event became part of our daily grind - whether it was designing graphics, planning decor, finalizing logistics, or mapping out the full flow of the day, we each had our hands in every detail.

The vision? To bring together an intimate group of Black creators for a special evening of connection and celebration during Black History Month. This event was originally birthed the year before by my powerhouse friends Artavia and Tiara, two women who recognized something important: brands weren’t making space for Black creators in this city - so they created their own. And this year, they pulled in the rest of us to co-host alongside them. I was SO honored to be included in something so meaningful and so necessary.

With the support of Nordstrom (who we are so grateful for BTW), we were able to bring the vision to life, alongside amazing brand sponsors like Bobbi Brown, Pat McGrath, Dior Beauty, YSL, Charlotte Tilbury, and more. Guests enjoyed exclusive activations (a Bobbi Brown shade match was just one of the many fun touchpoints) and left with gift bags stocked with love.

My prayer is that we continue to grow this event, year after year, expanding it to reach more and more creators who deserve spaces like this - spaces built with them in mind. Because these kinds of rooms? They’re vital.

And if I haven’t said it enough: I am so grateful to God for placing these incredible women in my life. The spaces they bring me into, the alignment I feel working alongside them, and the inspiration they give me to chase my dreams relentlessly—it’s unmatched. I’ve always dreamed of having a tight-knit group of women who love on me, hold me down, and cheer me on—and y’all… it’s them. Love me some them. ❤️

Here’s to building, uplifting, and creating spaces that see us.
